Microsoft Office 2010 beta available on MSDN/TechNet

No comments November 18th, 2009

Microsoft has made the latest beta of Office 2010 available to MSDN and TechNet customers.

The release follows news that Office 2010 beta builds have begun leaking from the software giant.

It’s widely expected that a public beta build of Office 2010 will be available this week. Microsoft has kept quiet on the reports but has hinted on the official Office twitter account “MS Office team has some exiting news to tell at PDC. This is a must attend event. Stay tuned!” and a follow up post hints at possible social networking features in Outlook, “would you like your inbox to talk to your social networks? Useful integration or distraction?”. Stay tuned for all the PDC 2009 information as Neowin will be live in Los Angeles this week.

This I noticed over at NeoWin
Am downloading it now to give it a spin.

.net 4 beta 2 is also available.

NVIDIA PHYSX PERFORMANCES

No comments November 17th, 2009

A decade ago many thought that progress of 3D accelerated graphics in games and applications has came to its peak, simply because CPUs of that time did not have enough power for real-time photorealistic rendering. Around that same period first consumer 3D graphics cards were making huge steps toward photorealistic rendering. After that came surround sound that further contributed to whole 3D virtual experience. Character animation in games, which was inseparable element of every 3D game, at the beginning was pre-programmed, so for example, characters in Quake and Unreal Tournament always jumped in a same way despite the fact that they were hit by a bullet or a rocket missile while in mid air. Similar situation was with racing simulations that looked close to real world examples, but could not offer similar real-world experience. So, something had to be changed.

Alas I’m still in the drk ages and am PhysX-less, but this should be good for diehard gamers.

Search Engines

No comments November 15th, 2009

Ran accross the new Bing Search Engine homepage and rather liked the piccy.
Good to see an enticing Search Engine that you want to visit.

So here are the more popular search engines and their rather bland looks and Yahoo’s too many distractions.

ASK Jeeves Search Engine

ASK Jeeves Search Engine

Very bland it does one thing search, no real reason I would come here, also why I don’t.

Altavista Search Engine

Altavista Search Engine

This used to be my Search Engine of choice, it was the fastest by far of all the engines back in it’s day, till Google came along and then it was never used by me again.
Not much has changed over the years and it looks about the same it did 10 years ago.

Yahoo Search Engine and front page.

Yahoo Search Engine and front page.

Yahoo, as Google a huge beast of a search engine, it’s also a lot of other things, and does none really well, there is too much rubbish here to distract from why you came here for.
Never used it, never will, also used by XTRA New Zealand largest ISP as its main page and email :(

Google Search Engine

Google Search Engine

Google there is nothing bigger in Search Engines than Google, it’s quick and has probably the biggest result for a search.
At least Google change the page to suit any events that are coming or on, bust most of the time its bland-ville.

MSN/Bing Search Engine

MSN/Bing Search Engine

The reason why this post is here, is Bing, now why can’t all search engines have a nice piccy like this, I want to got there.
Now where is it? Anybody know ?
It’s so nice I’ve booked marked and will use it again, all the others I will most likely not.
I wonder if the others will follow suit and get into to 21st century

The above are my opinions and your thoughts are most welcome.
In the mean time, I’mm of the Bing :)
